The project on “Linking Ukraine to the European Research Area – Joint Funding and Capacity Building Platform for Enhanced Research and Innovation Cooperation” (LUKE) is to be implemented within the EU’s Horizon Europe research programme.
The goal of the LUKE project is to
- support the development of international scientific cooperation
- promote the launch of joint research initiatives
- the deepening of Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area
The LUKE project will help attract joint funding for transnational research projects involving Ukraine. It is planned to hold a competition for research grants to Ukrainian participants in the research and innovation ecosystem.
The LUKE consortium includes 25 institutional participants from 15 countries under the coordination of the German Project Management Agency.

Tasks of the IEF NASU:
- co-coordinator within the implementation of work under the so-called first package
- the main task for the Institute's specialists at the first stage is to conduct a survey of research and development prospects and prepare analytical materials that will help determine priority areas of grant support.
