In the fall, in addition to scientific research, he had an important matter planned - a competition at the world championship of his young wards, who became the winners of the May European Championship in Cossack duel... PhD in Economics, Research Fellow at the State Organization "Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", a devoted patriot of science and his country, Oleksandr Korniyaka, an international-class master of sports and an international-category judge, dreamed and cared about the development of a healthy nation, the upbringing of healthy youth who know their history, love their country, and are ready to defend it... However, the unexpected duel of the 44-year-old scientist, athlete, and volunteer with a sudden illness ended tragically.

Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Korniyaka (1981–2025) belonged to the generation of young scientists who managed to combine systematic theoretical research with practical application of their scientific results in the development of the modern economy of Ukraine. He devoted his research activities to the genesis of market financial institutions in Ukraine’s economic history. His scientific investigations were distinguished by analytical depth, logical balance and respect for historical facts. At the same time, thanks to his active civic position and historical economic understanding of the challenges of modernity, science became for Oleksandr Korniyaka not only a field of search and creativity, but also a way to contribute to real changes in society.

And therefore, his volunteer efforts to promote and develop Cossack dueling, a sport officially recognized in Ukraine since 2001, logically took their place in the to-do list that he tried to cover. The chain that Oleksandr Korniyaka built for years, as the founder and vice-president of the international public organization "World Federation of Cossack Dueling", and since 2013 - its official representative - NGO "Ukrainian Sports Federation "Cossack Dueling" – together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, regional federations of Cossack dueling, regional departments of military-patriotic and tourist-local history, sponsors, and - above all - with talented youth, for which he used all his free time and energy, that chain was not interrupted. Recently, on October 10–12, over 700 athletes from 11 regions of Ukraine competed in Rivne for the Ukrainian Cup and the championship in the All-Ukrainian Cossack duel tournament. The competition was dedicated to the memory of Oleksandr Korniyaka.
