The process of formation of the monetary regime of inflation targeting under the influence of theoretical and methodological, internal institutional and international factors, its spread, institutionalization and modification is revealed. The preconditions of introduction and conditions of efficiency are analyzed. The genesis of the modern operating mechanism of inflation targeting and communication and accountability mechanisms is shown.

Foreign experience of inflation targeting is systematized: the general processes of its spread, as well as the preconditions and peculiarities of implementation in individual developed market economies and market economies are analyzed. The peculiarities of the strategies for the transition to inflation targeting and the role of the exchange rate in the conditions of functioning of this monetary regime are revealed. Existing studies on the macroeconomic effects of inflation targeting are generalized. The author's view of the possible vectors of its evolution and the emergence of new monetary regimes is proposed. The motivations and directions of improvement of monetary regime in Ukraine are shown.
