The monograph presents the results of a historical and economic study on the development of foreign economic relations of the Ukrainian economy. The authors characterize the trends and regularities of changes in the nature of international economic relations, which shaped the historical trajectory of Ukraine's inclusion in the system of world trade, international movement of capital and labor, scientific and technical cooperation, and international economic integration. The chronological boundaries of the study cover the period from the inclusion of Ukrainian ethnic lands in foreign trade relations at the stage of the formation of the world commodity market (XI–XVI centuries) to the newest forms of Ukraine's participation in the global economy. The authors identify the historical and economic factors that determined the current place of Ukraine’s national economy in the system of the international division of labor and Ukraine’s competitive position on the world commodity markets.
