The monograph summarizes the European principles of rural development and argues for the expediency to focus Ukraine’s policy of rural development to strengthening the village's ability to make a significant contribution to economic growth and the production of public goods, and to form a system similar to the European system of developing strategies and program tasks for the balanced development of agriculture and the countryside. The authors substantiate strategic directions and mechanisms of rural development as to improving land relations in Ukraine based on European socially oriented approaches to their regulation; qualitative renewal and implementation of rural human capital with the introduction of educational models and innovative network structures for the adult population, as well as increasing the availability of basic services; increasing the viability and competitiveness of rural economy, especially in terms of promoting the establishment of a European-style family farming system; consolidation of rural communities, preservation and implementation of their self-governing functions under the reform of local government and territorial authorities.
