The monograph examines the problem of shaping and implementing energy policy in the context of actualizing the concept of sustainable development. Presented the evolution of scientific opinion regarding the possibilities of balancing the growing needs of humanity and available natural resources. Revealed the patterns of changes in energy paradigms and defined the causes of energy crises. Imperatives and determinants of the national energy policy are established, respectively, as derivatives of the goals and objectives of sustainable development. The trends and factors of changes in the structural proportions of the energy balances of the world and national economies are defined, and an indicative analysis of energy efficiency and energy security of Ukraine in comparison with other countries is carried out. A comparative analysis of the features in the formation and development of markets for certain types of energy resources is conducted. The impact of social and environmental factors on the success of the national energy policy is analyzed. Identified the development directions of the fuel and energy complex and the formation of energy markets in the context of the European integration of Ukraine.
