The essence and characteristic features of the knowledge economy, the prospects for the formation of which in Ukraine are considered as a peculiar response to the challenges of the 21st century, which are the result of accelerated globalization of the world, both economic and political space. The factors that influence the realization of the knowledge economy in Ukraine are substantiated. On the basis of the study of the experience of foreign countries that have chosen the path of formation of knowledge economy, indicators and indicators of evaluation of the effectiveness of such an economy are covered.
