The monograph is devoted to the study of the prospects of using the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol to modernize the national economy in order to increase its energy efficiency and competitiveness.

Particular attention is paid to the analysis of modern carbon markets and funds: the stages of their formation, development and role in the modern climatic policy of the OECD countries are considered. It is shown how this policy affects structural changes in the economy of Ukraine. Key problems that impede the harmonization of climate policy of Ukraine and the Western countries are identified.

A separate section is devoted to Ukraine's strategy in the global greenhouse gases market. According to the results of the study, conclusions and recommendations for overcoming investment and institutional obstacles on the path to full-scale participation of Ukraine in Kyoto mechanisms were made.
