Year of publication: 2026
Pages: 20
Language: English
The brochure presents the investment project “Modernization of the facility for the Production of High-Strength Aluminum Alloy Ingots and Castings” developed by the Physico-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The economic support for the project was provided by the State Organization “Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.”
The brochure provides a comprehensive economic justification for the modernization of the production workshop of the Physico-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the NAS of Ukraine, aimed at establishing a modern domestic production base for high-strength aluminum alloy ingots and castings using continuous and centrifugal casting technologies. The project is focused on the commercialization of the Institute’s scientific and technological developments and on expanding domestic production of materials critical for the aviation, defense, mechanical engineering, energy, and other high-tech industries.
The publication:
- identifies trends in the global aluminum and high-strength aluminum alloy markets and assesses the needs of the Ukrainian domestic market;
- presents the innovative technological platform of the Physico-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the NAS of Ukraine and alternative project implementation scenarios: manufacturing technological equipment based on the Institute’s own scientific and technological developments or purchasing equipment from external suppliers;
- provides a roadmap for the implementation of the investment project and presents the structure of capital expenditures (CAPEX), operating expenditures (OPEX), and scenario-based pricing;
- presents the project’s financial analysis, including cash flow dynamics and investment efficiency indicators under different financing models, including NPV, IRR, and the discounted payback period;
- assesses the project’s budgetary efficiency, including projected tax revenues and social contributions, as well as its impact on job creation;
- evaluates the project’s multiplier effects on the national economy, including the development of intersectoral linkages, the creation of new value chains, and a reduction in import dependence;
- identifies strategic areas for the commercialization of the Institute’s scientific developments, including the creation of a high-strength aluminum alloy research and production cluster, contract manufacturing, public procurement and public investment, technology transfer, and an export-oriented model.
The publication is intended to facilitate the commercialization of scientific and technological developments of the Physico-Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the NAS of Ukraine in the field of high-strength aluminum alloy production, support the development of domestic high-tech manufacturing capacities, and reduce import dependence in strategically important industrial segments.
The publication is intended for potential investors, industrial businesses, public authorities, defense and mechanical engineering enterprises, representatives of the scientific community, and other stakeholders involved in the investment project.
