On 29 January 2026, the State Organization "Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" held an international event "Third Round Table of PROGRESS Partners in Ukraine – 2026". This event was organized as part of the project "Promoting Green Deal Readiness in the Eastern Partnership Countries" (PROGRESS) project.

The PROGRESS project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) as part of its International Climate Initiative (IKI).

In Ukraine, the PROGRESS project is implemented by a consortium:

The event was dedicated to presenting to key stakeholders the project's primary milestones from 2025 and to outline strategic goals for 2026. The main reports and discussions were held around issues related to improving the national agricultural policy and legal framework for the development of climate-smart and sustainable agriculture in Ukraine, mechanisms for green financing and the development of green farming, the European Green Deal, as well as capacity building through knowledge dissemination and awareness-raising at both community and national levels.

The welcome words were held by Valeriy Heyets, Director of the IEF, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Oleksandr Diachuk, Head of the Expert Group of the PROGRESS project at the IEF, PhD in Technical Sciences and Leading Researcher of the Institute; Denys Rzhanov, Head of the Directorate for Climate Change, Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine; and Maximilian Tonner, Embassy of the Federal Republic of the Germany Kyiv.

The key findings and results of the PROGRESS project in 2025 were presented by Martina Kolb, Programme Director of the PROGRESS/EU4ClimateResilience project, GIZ, who confirmed the project’s productivity and highlighted that the IEF of the NASU played a major role in this.

The round table consisted of five thematic sessions covering the key streams of the project's implementation.
