The centenary anniversary of Volodymyr V. Yurchyshyn – Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, and one of the founders of the human-centered approach to economic development in Ukraine – was celebrated on March 6, 2025, with a solemn meeting of the Academic Council at the State Institution "Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine." The meeting took place in a hybrid format (in-person and remote), gathering over 80 participants.
V.V. Yurchyshyn is a distinguished scientist and a leading authority in the fields of agricultural policy, agrarian reform, and the transition of Ukraine's agricultural sector. His work has been instrumental in developing the scientific and methodological foundations for transforming the domestic agro-sector through a socio-economic lens, as well as in shaping the history of agricultural economics in Ukraine. With a prolific academic career, V.V. Yurchyshyn has authored over 500 fundamental scientific publications and established a renowned scientific school. Under his mentorship, 46 candidates and 5 doctors of economic sciences have successfully advanced their academic and professional careers.
During the last years, Volodymyr V. Yurchyshyn worked at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where he conducted studies in the sphere of socioeconomic agricultural and rural development, became a mentor to many generations of researchers, and established a strong school of scholars who continue his legacy.
Representatives from institutions and organizations where Volodymyr V. Yurchyshyn worked throughout his life participated in the solemn meeting, including the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, as well as students and followers of the distinguished agrarian economist from all regions of Ukraine.
